Documentary family sessions are all about capturing what your life looks and feels like right now.
In a documentary family session I focus on capturing the authentic, everyday moments with your family – braiding your daughter's hair, soothing the toddler who's tripped, playing with Duplo on the living room floor- the little stuff that really defines this particular moment in time for your family. I want to give you photos that will allow you to come back to these moments in time and really remember what life was like then. That's just not something traditional posed photos can deliver!
How are Documentary Family Sessions different than a regular family session?
These sessions are nearly all candid. I am there to hang out and document rather than orchestrate. I may guide you into the good light or give small suggestions but other than that I really make an effort to hang back and just let things unfold naturally. Beforehand, we will chat about what do you want to remember most about this stage of life you're in right now.
These sessions are usually longer than a traditional session, allowing for everyone to get used to me being there but also giving me the time to capture your typical day and all of its little details. They can be anywhere from 2-6 hours long.
Does this sounds like something you're into? Reach out and we can chat more!
"We absolutely loved working with Natalie! We had a documentary session, and the entire experience felt so relaxed and comfortable. My kids warmed up to Natalie instantly, just like they would with a beloved auntie. She made them laugh and truly captured their spirits, along with the essence of our life in this moment. I can’t wait to look back on these photos in the years to come, cherishing such a beautiful snapshot of our lives during what feels like a wild and chaotic time. Thank you, Natalie!"
